Melons, "preserve peace in the Arctic". Tajani announces a mission of Italian entrepreneurs

“Italy is perfectly aware of how much this region of the world represents a strategic quadrant in global balances and intends to continue to do its part for prpreserve the Arctic as an area of ​​peace cooperation and prosperity”. This is the message that the Prime Minister Giorgia Melonisent to the presentation conference of Italian Arctic Politics, a Strategic Document outlining the objectives for strengthening Italian commitment in the region, underway in Villa Madama.

“The Arctic is increasingly a priority for NATO and the EU”

“We are convinced that theThe Arctic must increasingly be a priority dell’European Union and of Natoand that the Atlantic Alliance must seize the opportunity to develop a coordinated presence in the region capable of preventing tensions, preserving stability and responding to the interference of other actors”, underlined the prime minister.

Tajani announces an Italian entrepreneurial mission

“The Arctic is rich in raw materials and critical minerals, especially rare earths. We must mobilize our businesses with our Embassy in Copenhagen which will organize a entrepreneurial mission dedicated to the Arctic“. This was said by Foreign Minister Tajani at the conference presenting the Strategic Document which outlines the objectives for strengthening Italian commitment in the region.

“We have also been working intensively since economic point of view, Italy being the second European economic power and the fifth in the world. Italy must be a protagonist in the Arctic also from an economic point of view”, underlined the vice-president of the Council.

“Italy is a historical presence in the region, since the times of our navigators, but the centrality of the region requires us now to have a overall strategy updated at 360 degreesi”, concluded the head of the Farnesina.

Crosetto, building rules in a no man’s land

“The Arctic is a no man’s land where it is necessary to build rules that do not generate new fractures in a world that already has too many of them.” This was stated by the Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto, speaking at the presentation of the Italian strategy for the Arctic at Villa Madama.

According to Crosetto, the Arctic quadrant is destined to become increasingly central for trade, energy and raw materials, with a direct impact on global geopolitical balances. In this scenario, he explained, a coordinated and responsible presence of Western democracies is essential.

“Defence, research and diplomacy – he underlined – are the basis on which the country presents itself in international forums”, claiming for Italy an active and responsible role even in an area in which it does not have direct access, but long-term strategic interests.
