Hans Zimmer will compose the music for the “Harry Potter” series

After John Williams who created the famous theme, Patrick Doyle, Nicholas Hopper then the Frenchman Alexandre Desplat, it is the turn of the famous composer Hans Zimmer to bring his musical vision to the world of Harry Potter. The HBO channel announced that it would be responsible for creating the soundtrack for the next “Harry Potter” series, a highly anticipated adaptation of the saga by JK Rowling.

An internationally renowned composer, the naturalized American German, 68 years old, made himself known thanks to scores signed for dozens of films including “Rain Man”, “Gladiator”, “Inception” and “Pirates of the Caribbean”, for which he supervised the music, but also “The Lion King” and “Dune”, two works which earned him his two Oscars out of twelve nominations. His powerful and evocative style makes him one of the most sought-after artists in contemporary cinema and television.

The cinema saga is 25 years old

Produced by HBO, in collaboration with Warner Bros, this new “Harry Potter” series will reinvent the magical universe, each of the seven volumes of the saga being adapted in one season. The project, eagerly awaited by fans around the world, marks the return of the wizarding world and Hogwarts in a longer, and surely more faithful, narrative form, after the phenomenal success of the cinematographic saga, the 25th anniversary of which is being celebrated this year.

Filming began last July at Warner Bros. Studios. Leavesden, northwest London, UK. It should last around ten years. Francesca Gardiner is the showrunner and screenwriter, Mark Mylod will direct several episodes, and JK Rowling is executive producer. If no specific date has been communicated so far, we are talking about 2027 to discover what this new version of the adventures of Harry, Hermione and Ron will look like.
