Machado ‘gives’ Trump the Nobel Peace Prize. X goes wild: “Will he win the Oscar tomorrow?”

The leader of the Venezuelan opposition María Corina Machado explained that she gave US President Donald Trump the Nobel Peace Prize medal “because he deserves it“. Responding to a question about whether the Nobel is not formally transferable, Machado clarified on Fox News that it was a symbolic gesture, calling it “a very emotional moment.”

“I decided to present the Nobel Peace Prize medal on behalf of the people of Venezuela – said the opposition leader, adding that she was – very grateful for the opportunity to speak with President Trump”. Machado emphasized that he had acted with “great responsibility“, representing a people who, in his words, appreciate Trump’s commitment “not only to the freedom of Venezuelans, but of the entire hemisphere”.

Trump had thanked Machado on social media, obviously from his Truth profile: “It was an honor to meet María Corina Machado, from Venezuela, today. She is a wonderful woman who has been through a lot. María gave me her Nobel Peace Prize for the work I have done. A gesture of mutual respect. Thank you María!”.

Trump’s disappointment at missing the Nobel

The failure to win the Nobel Peace Prize was a bitter pill for Donald Trump, who at every appointment repeats to the press that he “ended eight wars”. His discontent had already exploded last October, after Machado’s victory: “The Nobel Committee has shown that they put politics before peace”, White House spokesman Steven Cheung wrote in a post on

On the decision not to award the much coveted prize to Donald Trump, the president of the Nobel Peace Committee Jorgen Watne Frydnes had clarified in response to journalists that “we base our decisions solely on the work and will of Alfred Nobel”.

The web makes fun of Trump

While the president of the United States shows gratitude and pride for Machado’s gesture, the web does not forgive. All kinds of memes and Trump jokes are becoming popular on

“If I buy a Super Bowl ring on Ebay, does it mean I won the Super Bowl?”, is the rather rhetorical question of another user on X. And again “A Nobel Prize offered like a bottle of wine at a dinner”.

Jimmy Kimmel’s satire

Jimmy Kimmel reaches another level. The famous American showman, who returned to the air after being suspended from his network under pressure from Trump, on his program ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ he ‘offered’ the American president one of his prizes. One after another the presenter displays all his prizes.

And then he closes: “The choice is yours, I will personally present one or all of these awards in the Oval Office, but only if he withdraws ICE from Minneapolis.”
