Artificial intelligence and tourism: 5 out of 10 travelers consult AI tools

The artificial intelligence It has become a necessity, and the tourism sector is one of those that takes advantage of this tool the most. So much so that by the end of 2025, it is estimated that 5 out of 10 travelers will use agents like ChatGPT to plan their itineraries.

This was revealed in the report Remapping travel with Agentic AI, prepared by McKinsey & Company in collaboration with Skift, published in December of last year.

It is maintained that 55% of travelers already use ChatGPT or AI-based applications, according to a report by El Economista. That is, 30% of consumers use AI very frequently, and another 25% occasionally.

This also focuses on agentic AI, which is distinguished by performing specific tasks, unlike the more popular generative AI. And, according to the report’s data, tourism start-ups are experiencing a “remarkable boost”, and have gone from receiving 10% of venture capital financing in 2023 to 45% in the first half of 2025.

Another important aspect is that more than 90% of travelers indicate that they have some confidence in the accuracy of the tourist information obtained from artificial intelligence.

One of the points in favor of agentic AI, unlike generative AI, is that it can monitor situations, identify moments to intervene, design a plan and execute it, almost without human intervention.
