They launch the cultural strategy of the Michoacán Plan; 10.3 million pesos will be invested

With an investment of more than 103.3 million pesos, the Cultural Actions of the Michoacán Plan for Peace and Justice aim to support creators and strengthen community work, attention to heritage and the promotion of reading in the state.

The strategy, presented last Wednesday by the Secretary of Culture of Mexico, Claudia Curiel de Icaza, in Morelia, will be implemented through 15 calls.

Accompanied by Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, the official stressed that these actions were designed based on a diagnosis that was carried out between November and December 2025, with the participation of more than 500 people in 11 thematic tables.

He explained that to expand access to culture and strengthen the social fabric from the communities, the strategy is organized into five lines of action: community musical groups; local creators, circuits and festivals; community arts projects and infrastructure; heritage, memory and identity, and promotion of books and reading, with two transversal axes: childhood and youth and culture of peace.

With this, the creation of 100 community choirs in the 13 regions of the entity was announced. The development of workshops and a diploma in the construction of community memories, the rehabilitation and maintenance of 15 heritage properties, as well as intervention in archaeological areas and restoration of historical properties, were also discussed.

In order to promote reading, the construction of public libraries in indigenous communities is planned, a tour of the Librobús Michoacán Lee and the free distribution of 100 thousand copies of the 25 Para el 25 collection of the Economic Culture Fund.

The event was also attended by the local secretaries of Culture and Education, Tamara Sosa and Gabriela Molina, in that order, and the representative of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in Mexico, Andrés Morales, among others.
