Venezuela insists that it will fight in all fields for the freedom of Nicolás Maduro

The chancellor of Venezuela, Yvan Gil insisted again this Friday that his country will fight in all scenarios to achieve freedom of the Venezuelan president, Nicolás Madurodetained in the United States along with the first lady, Cilia Flores.

“As Bolivarians, as Chavistas that we are, we assume that commitment and we are going to fight, as the president in charge has said, fight in the legal field, in the diplomatic field, in the field of dialogue and we are sure to win,” said Gil in a meeting with the network of Chavista jurists in Caracas.

The Foreign Minister indicated that the return of the president “will mean the victory of justice, the victory of legality, the victory of diplomacy and the victory of reason over force, over weapons and over death.”

“There is no valid argument that supports the thesis of being able to kidnap a head of state,” he stressed.

Gil also pointed out that taking away a president of a country “using technological, military, and threat resources” has “unthinkable consequences for international security.”

Earlier, Chavismo’s number two and Minister of the Interior and Justice, Diosdado Cabello, said that the Government of the acting president Delcy Rodríguez does not rest “not even for a moment” to achieve the freedom of Maduro and Flores, captured on January 3 in a US attack on Caracas and three other nearby states.

After Maduro’s capture, the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) ordered Delcy Rodríguez, who served as vice president, to take over as acting president.

Rodríguez has already indicated on several occasions that he is working to achieve Maduro’s freedom and on Thursday he said that if he had to go to Washington he would go “standing” and not “dragged.”

The president in charge of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, said on Wednesday, January 14, that her country “is opening to a new political moment”, in the midst of the process of releases after the overthrow of Nicolás Maduro in a US bombing. (AFP)
