Rents fell across Finland for the first time in the measurement history, which begins in 2015

The measurement history starts from 2015. In the capital region, rents fell sharply.

Non-profits apartment rents fell in the last quarter of 2025 at the level of the whole of Finland for the first time in the history of statistics, says Tilastokeskus.

The measurement history starts from 2015. Rents fell by an average of 0.8 percent in the whole country compared to 2024.

According to Statistics Finland’s most recent data, rents rose in only a few cities. Rents rose the most in Rovaniemi, but even there the rise in rents slowed down to 0.8 percent.

In the capital region the price slide was steeper than before. Rents decreased by 1.3 percent from a year ago. In the previous quarter, between July and September, rents in the capital region fell by an average of 0.5 percent year-on-year.

“The exceptionality of the situation is emphasized by the fact that freely financed rents have declined in all the largest cities”, Chief Actuary of the Statistics Finland Martti Korhonen says in the announcement.

During the entire year 2025, apartment rents in the capital region decreased by 0.5 percent. In the rest of the country, rents increased by 0.6 percent from 2024.

Rents rose by an average of 0.2 percent throughout the country.
