Microsoft fixes a Windows 11 error that prevented you from turning off the computer and only allowing you to restart it

Microsoft has fixed a Windows 11 security update error released in January, which caused incorrect operation of hibernation mode and even prevented me from turning off the computer only allowing the device to restart, among other errors.

The company launched its latest security update last Tuesday, January 13, specifically the version 23H2 (KB5073455) for Windows 11which included security improvements and fixes, as well as other updates from the previous preview version.

However, this update has caused problems for some users, who have identified that their devices cannot be turned off just as they cannot enter hibernation and, instead, they restart.

As Microsoft has explained on its problems support page, this failure has occurred on computers with Secure Launcha feature that uses virtualization-based security to Protect your system from firmware threats during startup. This is how it has affected computers with Windows 11 operating system version 23H2.

Following this line, they have also identified connection and authentication errors in remote connection applications. This bug caused credential prompts to fail in some remote connection apps, including Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365.

Specifically, this problem has been identified in devices with Windows 11 version 25H2 operating system; Windows 10, version 22H2 ESU; and Windows Server 2025.
