ChatGPT will include ads related to user conversations

OpenAI has announced that its ‘chatbot’ ChatGPT will begin to include related ads with conversations from users of the free plan and ChatGPT Go subscription.

This measure will be tested first in USA in the coming weeks, as explained by the company in a statement on its website. OpenAi has clarified that subscriptions ChatGPT Plus, ChatGPT Pro, ChatGPT Business and ChatGPT Enterprise will not include this type of advertising.

Regarding the announcements, OpenAI has communicated that They do not influence the answers of the ‘chatbot’ to users and that are optimized to be as useful as possible. In addition, they will be identified as advertising and separated from the responses.

This new interface seeks to go “beyond static messages and links”, allowing the user to see an ad and ask about it directly, the company says.

On the other hand, the user can disable ad personalization y delete data that are used at any time. “You can get more information about why you see an ad or dismiss it and tell us why you did so,” OpenAI explained.

Along these lines, the company maintains that conversations with ChatGPT are private for advertisers and they will not sell user data to them.

The incorporation of the advertisements will be done climbing formstarting with a test in the coming weeks for users over 18 years old who are signed in in the United States on the Free and ChatGPT Go plans. “We will test ads at the end of responses in ChatGPT, when there is a relevant sponsored product or service based on the conversation,” OpenAI said.

This move follows the November launch of ChatGPT Go, OpenAI’s cheapest subscription plan, priced at 9.99 euros per month. However, paying for this subscription will not be enough to avoid ads.
