Chinese robot enters the Guinness Book of Records after walking 100 km

He walked for three days covering one hundred kilometers and breaking every record: a Chinese robot entered the Guinness Book of Records for the longest distance ever traveled by one humanoid machine.

L’AgiBot A2, 169 centimeters tall, it left the city of Suzhou on the evening of November 10th, traveling along highways and city streets before arriving in the historic Bund area, Shanghai’s riverfront on November 13th. According to AgiBot, themanufacturing companythe bipedal robot “walked on different surfaces and in compliance with traffic regulations”.

Videos posted by AgiBot show the silver and black A2 trudging along a road between cyclists and scootersbefore accelerating and marching along the Bund in front of the Shanghai skyline.

The Chinese government has encouraged domestic companies to develop humanoids, in hopes of leading the global robotics industry. Beijing hosted the world’s first humanoid robot games in August, where more than 500 “athletes” competed in disciplines ranging from basketball to competitive cleaning. AgiBot says the A2 is designed for customer support roles and comes with a chat function and lip reading capabilities.
