Kaspersky closes 2025 with 6% growth and anticipates a 2026 of mobile threats and increasingly selective attacks

Kaspersky has opened 2026 with the focus on the evolution of the cybersecurity landscape, marked by increasingly sophisticated attacks and selective and with the ‘smartphone’ as the main source of threats while advancing its strategic priorities and some risks that will define this year.

The cybersecurity company has welcomed the new year in a meeting organized with the press, in which it has made a review of the main security risks identified in 2025as well as the milestones achieved during the past year.

Regarding the cybersecurity panorama in 2025, Kaspersky has highlighted how it has increased sophistication in malicious attacks since, unlike other years, cases have been registered targeting not only critical infrastructures of companies of all types, but also focused on specific physical individuals.

This was explained by the general director of Kaspersky Iberia, Óscar Suela, who detailed that this increase in sophistication has been motivated by three main facts. First of all, for the vulnerability exploitationwhich has been “the main reason of the year to orchestrate attacks”, followed by the credential theft and, thirdly, access to supply chain.

To reach these conclusions, Kaspersky has indicated that it has based itself on data from almost 400 million home users, as well as some 300,000 organizations. From them, during the past year, analyzed more than 500,000 new malicious files every daywhich represents a 7 percent increasewith respect to 2024.

Following this line, among all the ‘malware’ that has been detected and analyzed daily in 2025, a high percentage (59%) predominates. ‘infostealer’that is, Trojan-type ‘software’ that manages to access user devices to steal sensitive information, such as credentials or cryptocurrency ‘wallets’.

In addition to the ‘infostealer’ trend, in 2025 ‘software’ type have also predominated. ‘spyware’ in 51 percent of cases. With this type of attacks, once the credentials are stolen, the computer is infected with CIA-type ‘software’ (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability) to monetize the information obtained.

Finally, the third most detected trend worldwide during the past year has been the network of back doors (‘backdoors’), which is based on secret access or programs that allow the authentication and security of a system to be bypassed. These attacks have also been carried out for information theft and espionage.

GROWTH AND MILESTONES FOR 2025

Beyond cybersecurity, the company has also shared some achievements achieved in 2025 internally, starting with its growth such as Kaspersky Iberia, which has increased 6 percent in total exceeding your expectations. As Suela has pointed out, this growth has been motivated by differential factors such as eight out of ten customers renewed their contract with Kaspersky in 2025.

The manager has also highlighted the number of Kaspersky clients who have started to adopt solutions at the ‘enterprise’ level during the past year. This is due, in part, to its advances to go from offering more traditional solutions with an exclusive EPP focus (Endpoint Protection platforms), to non-PPE solutions that focus on advanced detection and response, with targeted attack detection platforms and solutions for specific environments, including servers and hybrid cloud.

So much so that Suela has stressed that the 45 percent of all Kaspersky Iberia turnover in 2025 belongs to the contracting of non-EPP solutions by clients. Kaspersky has also targeted a 52 percent growth in the adoption of strategic solutions in the Iberia market in 2025, as well as a 96 percent growth in the industrial part.

On the other hand, Kaspersky has also stressed its presence with more than 70 events held last year, both with partners, the media and users. In this sense, he has highlighted some events focused on cybersecurity training, with projects for students in different universities in Spain, as well as the one carried out by JUPOL to Police Academy students in Ávila, in order to promote the fight against cybercrime.

Following this line, Suela has exemplified other projects, such as digital violence in terms of gender violencewith which they launched a functionality to protect mobile devices from possible victims of stalkeware. That is, a type of malicious ‘software’ that tracks the location and activity of the device without the user knowing.

Thus, it is a function that allows you to identify if someone is trying to install an application with ‘stalkerware’ on the ‘smartphone’ and has been used in a pilot project against gender violence promoted by the Government of Andalusia, with which more than a thousand licenses have been provided to protect devices of victims of gender violence.

Likewise, during the past year they continued to promote their objective of democratize cybersecurity, raising awareness and “creating culture from the little ones”. Specifically, the manager has given examples of talks in which young people are warned about the risks in their ecosystem, emphasizing the mobile devices, online games and social networks.

Following this line, another event celebrated has been Kaspersky Horizonson artificial intelligence (AI) in cybersecurity. Furthermore, Suela has valued the signing of the European Commission’s AI Pact.

FORECASTS AND OBJECTIVES FOR 2026

With all this, Suela has stated that among the cybersecurity concerns that will have to be faced this year, issues such as ““geoeconomic confrontations” between different countries and regions.

However, the manager has referred to the mobile device as the main actor that should be “feared” during this year 2026given that “practically no one” protects their smartphone with cybersecurity solutions “not even in the corporate environment.” This makes the mobile phone a very clear target for the malicious actor, who will bet on infecting these devices to, from there, obtain the desired information or even infect other computers.

In addition, Suela has also clarified that, as has happened during 2025, malicious actors They will continue to meticulously choose their victim, betting on high profiles, to ensure that after launching an attack and stealing your data, they will be able to obtain higher ransoms.

Regarding Kaspersky’s objectives for 2026, the company has underlined its intention to continue improving threat detection algorithmswith a more global vision. To do this, Suela has explained that they will put more emphasis on expanded managed detection and response (MXDR) solutions, as well as intelligence services and solutions for industrial environments.

They will also continue advocating to democratize cybersecurityproviding tools to any company regardless of its resources, with solutions with greater added value. Likewise, Suela has referred to the concept GenerAItion and the need to raise awareness about the security risks of AI to all users of any age.

On the other hand, during this year Kaspersky will continue expanding public-private collaboration, working with the National Police, Europol and Interpol, among other organizations, to fight cybercrime together.
