A serious anti-Semitic incident in the city of Plovdiv in Bulgaria: unknown persons sprayed a hateful inscription and swastikas on the gate of the community synagogue. The incident caused a deep shock among the Jewish community, the Plovdiv police opened an investigation to examine the circumstances of the incident and locate the suspects. “This is about crossing a red line,” community officials said.

“This is an unusual event among our community, but we will not allow anyone to stop our activities,” says Rabbi Mendi Mendelzon, a Chabad emissary in the city in a conversation with mako. “This outrageous event will not deter us, in the face of hatred we will continue to add light and act with Jewish pride. In another anti-Semitic case, we reported today on an unusual event in which HA dozen Jewish boys, aged 15-16, were attacked last night while receiving threats on their lives and at one point but trying to run them over in the suburb of St Kilda in Melbourne’s east. The police, who are currently hunting two suspects, said: “The abuse was terrible and lasted a long time.”
