Consumer confidence recovered and rose 2.2% in January after the decline in December

However, the UTDT indicated that in the year-on-year comparison the index shows a decrease of 1.72% compared to January 2025. So far under the current government, the peak of the CCI was recorded precisely a year ago, with a value of 47.38 points.

The latest consumption indicators, such as that of Scentia, show a 2% recovery in 2025 which fails to compensate for the 14% decline in 2024.

In 2025, the Di Tella record had pronounced falls, like the one in August when it fell 13.9%. In September it fell 0.3% and recovered with increases of 6.3% and 8.8% in October and November, respectively.

To prepare the index, the UTDT carried out a survey between January 5 and 15 on the personal economic situation and the economy in general. The interviewees were asked how they see their situation compared to a year ago and what they expect in one year and in three years and they were asked the same question about the country’s economy. Furthermore, they were asked whether it is a good time to buy appliances, cars or property.

By regions, The largest monthly increase in the CCI was recorded in the Interior, with an increase of 7.90%. In contrast, the GBA showed practically no variation, with a drop of 0.07%, followed by CABA, which presented a decrease of 1.48%. The Interior is the region with the highest index, while the GBA has the lowest level among the three.

By income, the ICC registered a monthly increase in both segments, being most pronounced among low-income households, where the index grew 3.32%, while among high-income households the increase was 1.27%.

By subindexes, Durable Goods and Real Estate recorded the largest monthly increase, with an increase of 9.90%, followed by Personal Situation, which grew 1.83%. In contrast, the Macroeconomic Situation showed a drop of 2.23%.

Present Conditions showed an increase in January of 7.88% compared to the previous month. In contrast, Future Expectations registered a drop of 1.4% in the month.
