Zelensky affirms that “it is still early to draw conclusions” from the new round of negotiations with Russia and the US

The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated this Friday that “it is still early to draw conclusions” from the new round of negotiations in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, between Russian, Ukrainian and American delegations, to discuss Washington’s plan to end the war.

“As for the content of today’s talks, it is still early to draw conclusions. We will see how the conversation develops tomorrow and what results it produces,” the Ukrainian president said during his daily evening speech.

In this sense, he emphasized that “it is necessary that not only Ukraine has the desire to end this war and achieve full security, but that somehow a similar desire also arises in Russia.”

Zelensky acknowledged that the meeting held during the day “is important” because “trilateral meetings of this type have not been held for a long time” and it is the place to “debate the parameters for the end of the war.”

“By now they should have at least some answers from Russia. The key is that Russia must be prepared to end this war, which it itself started. Ukraine’s position is clear,” he concluded.

The Secretary of the Security Council, Rustem Umerov, who led the Ukrainian negotiating team, who has thanked the American mediation, has indicated that they have addressed “the future logic of the negotiation process to move towards a dignified and lasting peace.”
