Simplification of fire safety requirements for buildings with a height of 10-12 floors has been approved

The National Design and Construction Council approved the initiative of the National Design Headquarters to change the fire safety requirements for buildings with a height of 10-12 floors, contrary to the position of the fire service.

According to the council’s decision, buildings with a height of 10-12 floors will be considered high-rise, rather than multi-story, and when built, the developer will be relieved of the need to design two staircases and a double set of additional systems.

According to experts, such a step will significantly reduce the cost of construction of such buildings, which make up a significant part of urban renovation projects.

The savings can range from 80 thousand shekels for an apartment in the north of the country to 300 thousand shekels for an apartment in Tel Aviv.
