The Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, and the Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, in expressing the “strong indignation of the government and Italy” for the release of Jacques Moretti, underline that this was ordered “despite the extreme seriousness of the crime of which he is suspected, the heavy responsibilities looming over him, the persistent danger of escape and the evident risk of further contamination of the evidence against him”. “A decision – we read in a note from Palazzo Chigi – which represents a serious offense and a further wound inflicted on the families of the victims of the Crans-Montana tragedy and those who are still hospitalized”.

The father of a victim: “Annihilated and outraged”

“The only thing that keeps me alive is knowing that one day justice will be done. But this news seems to go in the opposite direction. It all seems so unfair. A bail of 200 thousand francs to get out of prison, for a crime like this… I hope justice takes its course, but today I’m wavering.” Andrea Costanzo, father of Chiara, the 16-year-old Italian girl among the Constellation victims, says this in an interview with Repubblica.

And the mayor of Crans-Montana or the municipality’s security managers? There have been serious omissions. Three weeks have now passed and these people are living the good life. In my opinion there are some scandalous flaws”.

Tajani: “The feelings of the Italian people have been offended”
