Trump cancels the additional tariffs he threatened – “A big advantage for the United States and all NATO countries”

President of the United States Donald Trump says it will cancel the additional tariffs it threatened to eight European countries.

Trump tells Truth Social about it –in his message. According to Trump, he and the Secretary General of NATO Mark Rutten the meeting has been “very productive”.

“We have established the framework for a future agreement regarding Greenland and indeed the entire Arctic region. This solution, if it is implemented, will be a great benefit to the United States and all NATO countries. Based on this understanding, I will not impose tariffs that were supposed to take effect on February 1,” Trump writes in his message.

According to him, there will be further discussions about the Golden Dome missile defense system that the United States wants, as far as it is related to Greenland.

“Further information will be provided as the discussions progress. Vice President.” JD VanceMinister of Foreign Affairs Marco Rubiospecial envoy Steve Witkoff and several others, as needed, will be responsible for negotiations,” Trump says.

On Wall Street, the stock indices started to rise strongly after the announcement.

Trump said last Saturday that he will impose additional tariffs of ten percent on eight European countries because of the dispute related to Greenland. According to the president, Greenland should be controlled by the United States for reasons of national security.

The customs would have affected Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, Great Britain and the Netherlands. An additional threat was that they would rise to 25 percent from the beginning of June. Trump said that the tariffs would continue until the United States took control of Greenland.

Trump spoke at the Davos Economic Forum on Wednesday. He quoththat Europe should hand over Greenland to the United States in exchange for the security protection that the United States offers to its allies. The president also assured that the United States will not use military force to acquire Greenland. In the past, he has not ruled out the possibility of using military force.

In his Truth Social message, Trump did not specify what the “framework” of the agreement on Greenland and the Arctic region means in practice. Denmark and Greenland have repeatedly said that Greenland is not for sale.
