Lots of chances, but only one point: Hertha BSC fought to a 2-2 draw at Karlsruher SC

Both teams drew 2:2 (2:1) on Saturday. Hertha remains in seventh place in the second division table. The gap to the direct promotion rank has already increased to at least seven points.

Accompanied by expressions of solidarity in the stands after the incidents of violence between fans and the police a week ago in Berlin’s game against FC Schalke 04 (0-0), both teams provided entertainment on the field from the start. Fabian Schleusener (7th minute) gave the hosts an early lead in front of 33,180 spectators, before Hertha’s captain Fabian Reese (20th) benefited from a blatant error in the build-up of the game by Karlsruhe’s Marvin Wanitzek to equalize.

After the setback, the KSC continued to apply pressure. Philipp Förster (24′) failed to hit the post. Thanks to a remarkable goal from veteran Sebastian Jung, who scored with a volley from 24 meters after a blocked corner, the Baden team were still able to celebrate just two minutes later.

After the restart, the guests were closer to equalizing in a game that continued to be played offensively. After missing some good opportunities, they finally got their reward.

Substitute Jeremy Dudziak, who only made his comeback for Hertha BSC a week ago after almost a year and a half, scored ten minutes before the end after fantastic preparatory work from Fabian Reese to make the final score a deserved 2-2.
