Asfura did not invite presidents and heads of state from other countries to the investiture ceremony for reasons of “austerity,” and preferred to assume his mandate at the headquarters of Parliament, contrary to the traditional investitures at the José de la Paz Herrera National Stadium, in the Honduran capital.

This investiture ceremony was attended by ambassadors and representatives of international organizations accredited in the country, among other guests.

The conservative businessman Nasry Asfura was officially proclaimed this Wednesday, December 24, the new elected president of Honduras, three weeks after elections marked by a narrow margin of difference and allegations of fraud.
