Meta plans to incorporate subscriptions on Instagram, Facebook and Whatsapp with exclusive functions

Meta is working on incorporating a paid subscription model with exclusive functions for the applications of Instagram, Facebook y Whatsapp, which are expected to include options such as creating limited audience lists or accessing more advanced artificial intelligence (AI) features, such as Vibes video generation.

The company has explained that the new subscriptions will drive “greater productivity and creativity.” Specifically, it seeks to offer a “premium experience” users with access to special features and “greater control over how they share and connect,” while keeping basic features free.

This was shared by Meta in statements to TechCrunch, adding that it will offer users a range of subscriptions, each with a series of exclusive features depending on the quota, although it has not specified what these exclusive options will be.

In this context, application analyst Alessandro Paluzzi recently announced in a publication on his X profile that Instagram is working on a subscription that will allow users to create limited audience lists, see which accounts don’t follow you back o view a story without it appearing as “viewed” to the user who published it.

However, TechCrunch has clarified that The subscription system will be independent of the verified Meta. The company has stated that it will instead use the experiences learned from verification to create more interesting features integrated into its subscription models.

Meta verification already allowed certain users a verification badge, 24-hour help, protection against identity theft, as well as exclusive stickers. While verified ones are focused on content creators, these subscriptions seek a broader audience.

INTEGRATION OF AI WITH SUBSCRIPTIONS

At the end of December, Meta acquired the startup Manus to “unlock opportunities” with its autonomous artificial intelligence (AI) agent. Now, it plans to integrate it into its applications in parallel to the subscription model.
