‘Model’ STEM ecosystem opened in Hoa Lac

At the opening ceremony of the STEM ecosystem at the NIC National Innovation Center on the morning of January 31, Mr. Vu Quoc Huy, Director of NIC, emphasized that “STEM education is no longer an option, but a strategic requirement for every country”, in the context of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation have become key drivers of growth.

STEM is an acronym for four fields: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, often used to refer to an interdisciplinary integrated educational method, helping students apply theory into practice to solve real-life problems.

The STEM ecosystem at NIC Hoa Lac includes STEM reference classrooms and experience spaces. The space is designed in an open direction, integrating functional areas such as learning, practicing, crafting, and experiencing technology, with a system of equipment including computers, educational robots, 3D printers, and manufacturing equipment for STEM education.

According to a NIC representative, on this infrastructure platform, the center will coordinate with agencies and businesses to deploy training programs for teachers and students, transfer learning materials and programs, organize experiential activities, events and operate regularly, thereby forming a complete STEM ecosystem.

In addition, the ecosystem is expected to be a reference model, contributing to innovating STEM teaching and learning methods; connecting training, experience, competition, research and innovation activities; At the same time, spread the STEM movement to educational establishments from preschool to high school across the country.

“This will become a point to connect knowledge, nurture talent, inspire creativity, and make practical contributions to the goal of developing young, high-quality human resources for Vietnam in the coming time,” Mr. Huy said.

According to the Director of NIC, many countries have considered STEM as a pillar of the education system, investing heavily in integrated learning programs, experiential education, scientific research and innovation right from high school, to equip the young generation with scientific thinking, creative capacity, problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to future global challenges. In Vietnam, many important guidelines and policies aim to promote STEM education and develop high-quality human resources, demonstrating Vietnam’s determination to build a modern, substantive education, linked to reality and the country’s development needs.

As one of the units participating in building the STEM ecosystem, Ms. Thuy Duong, founder of OneSpace company, emphasized the cooperation of all parties in STEM education in Vietnam. “When businesses are accompanied by the State and schools, STEM will become a living ecosystem, closely linked to the reality and development needs of the country,” Ms. Duong said.

Also at the event, the National Innovation Center honored teams and coaches with high achievements in international STEM and Robotics competitions and tournaments in 2025 and launched a number of competitions and tournaments in 2026 sponsored or co-organized by NIC including Enjoy AI Vietnam, Open Asia Enjoy AI 2026, First Global Challenge Vietnam 2026.
