Apple clarifies that the renewed version of Siri, powered by Gemini, will run in the private cloud

The CEO of Apple Tim Cook, has clarified that the renewed version of Siri which will offer a more personalized experience powered by Gemini artificial intelligence (AI), will be will run on device and private cloud Private Cloud Compute, in order to maintain the company’s privacy standards.

Those from Cupertino have announced the financial results for the first quarter of its fiscal year 2026 which, ended on December 27, 2025, has established itself as one of its best sales quarters, reaching new all-time highs in revenue from its line of iPhone smartphones and its services.

In this context, during the call with investors to present the results, Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, has clarified some issues about his newly announced collaboration with Google and how this partnership will affect the next version of its iPhone assistant, Siri.

This partnership is based on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) models from Google Geminias well as its cloud, to drive Apple’s AI Foundational Models, in order to integrate this technology into its iPhone devices and the renewed version of Siri.

Thus, Apple is expected to have the capabilities to offer a personalized assistant, fully integrated with other applications and with the ability to understand natural language to facilitate complete control of the device with just your voice.

However, even though it initially assured that it would continue running its AI functions in its private cloud, Private Cloud Computeto maintain its privacy standards, it was later revealed that the iPhone maker was considering the possibility of run this version of Siri on Google infrastructure.

Now, although the technology company has not shared specific details about the agreement, Cook has specified how the models will be executed, claiming that will continue to use “the device and private cloud computing”, maintaining its “industry-leading” privacy standards, as reported by 9to5Google.

“We believe that we can unlock many experiences and innovate in a key way thanks to this collaboration,” he added, while clarifying that, although Apple “will continue to independently do some of its own things“, the personalized version of Siri will be a collaboration with Google.

On the other hand, during the call it was also questioned how Apple foresees the return on investment related to Apple Intelligence, to which Cook has stressed that they are incorporating AI into products “that people love” and they are doing it by integrating it directly into the operating system”personally and privately.”

In this sense, the manager valued that this way of integrating AI generates “great value” and “opens a range of opportunities” in their products and services. Despite all this, Cook did not specify what percentage of iPhone users currently have access to Apple Intelligence features, as well as the extent to which these tools translate into sales.

With all this, although Apple plans to present the first new Siri features in mid-February for iOS 26.4, the completely renewed version of the assistant will be announced at the WWDC developer conference in June of this year and will arrive with iOS 27.
