An agreement in the “American Senate” limits the repercussions of the government closure

The US Senate approved, by a majority of 71 votes, a financial bill aimed at addressing the government shutdown crisis. However, the government will face a partial shutdown whose actual effect is limited to the weekend, due to the text of the draft being different from the House of Representatives’ version, which will not be able to hold a final vote before Monday. This approval came as a result of a political agreement between US President Donald Trump and the Democrats to pass five items of the budget, while postponing the decision on the allocations for the Department of Homeland Security for two-week negotiations, in response to the Democrats’ demands for reforms in the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Department (ICE) after the killing of two American citizens by federal gunfire in Minneapolis.
