Iranian news agency Tasnim reported that Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei prayed at the tomb of Ruhollah Khomeini, located in a mausoleum a few kilometers from Tehran.
This contradicts a report by the opposition website Iran International, which claims that Khamenei is hiding in a special bunker in Tehran.
Iranian state media emphasize that Khamenei’s visit to the mausoleum is timed to coincide with the beginning of the “Decade of Dawn” and are clearly trying to refute rumors about his stay in the bunker.
The “Decade of Dawn” is an annual public holiday in Iran, celebrated from February 1 to 11, which commemorates the victory of the Islamic Revolution of 1979 and the return of Ayatollah Khomeini. The period symbolizes the end of the “night” of the monarchy and the beginning of the “dawn” of the republic, accompanied by large-scale celebrations, cultural events and demonstrations.
