Russia confirmed: negotiations with Ukraine will resume on February 4

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov confirmed that a new round of trilateral negotiations with the participation of delegations from Ukraine, Russia and the United States will take place in Abu Dhabi on February 4-5. It was originally scheduled for February 1st.

“The second round of work of the group on security issues was planned for last Sunday, but additional coordination of the schedules of the three parties was required, and now, on Wednesday-Thursday, indeed, the second round will take place in Abu Dhabi,” the official said.

Last day, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky announced the postponement of the trilateral meeting to February 4-5. “Ukraine is ready for a substantive conversation, and we strive for the result to bring us closer to a real and dignified end to the war. Thanks to everyone who helps,” he wrote.

Let us recall that the first meeting of representatives of the three countries after a long break took place in Abu Dhabi on January 23-24. All issues on the agenda were discussed, including territorial demands for Donbass, the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, and measures to de-escalate the situation.

US Presidential Special Representative Steven Witkoff called the talks productive, but the parties failed to make progress on the critical territorial issue. Russia insists on Ukraine’s complete withdrawal from Donbass; official Kyiv calls this condition unacceptable.
