Zelensky confirms that Russia has stopped attacks on energy infrastructure far from the front lines

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, reported this Monday that the Russian Armed Forces have ceased attacks with missiles and suicide drones against the Ukrainian energy infrastructure in the last day, except for targets located near the front.

“Yesterday there were new Russian attacks against energy sector facilities on the front lines and border communities, but there have been no Russian missile or shaheed attacks against energy infrastructure,” Zelensky explained in a message posted on social networks.

The Ukrainian president has indicated that the Russian forces “concentrate their terrorism against our logistics, mainly the railways,” “as in previous days.” Thus, there have been attacks against railway infrastructure in Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia. And in kyiv there are still more than 200 homes without heat, “mainly due to accidents.”

US President Donald Trump announced on January 29 that his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, has promised him that he will stop bombing Ukraine for a week, after Russian attacks have left thousands of Ukrainians without electricity in the middle of the cold Ukrainian winter.

“Due to the extreme cold (…) I have personally asked Putin not to attack kyiv or other cities and towns for a week. And he has agreed. It has been very nice,” he declared during a meeting of his cabinet.

NEGOTIATIONS IN EMIRATES

In addition, Zelensky has revealed that the Ukrainian delegation has already left to hold a “trilateral meeting” with representatives of the United States and Russia in the United Arab Emirates.

“Our team continues to work with the Americans to achieve real solutions for peace. Today I met with our delegation,” which will meet with the other parties on Wednesday and Thursday in a trilateral format and also in a bilateral format with the United States.

“There are things that can be agreed upon. There is content that needs more work. We are ready for security guarantees,” Zelensky stressed in his usual daily afternoon speech.
