Long Chau, Ho Chi Minh City Pasteur Institute cooperate to improve preventive medicine

The comprehensive cooperation signing ceremony took place in Ho Chi Minh City on February 2 and the memorandum of understanding focuses on three points. First, with its strength in technology, Long Chau will accompany the 135-year-old scientific institute to develop and apply AI to optimize operating processes, contribute to improving management capacity and operational efficiency, and actively support research and epidemiological monitoring.

The minutes emphasize that both sides will deploy in-depth training courses on AI applications for management and operations teams, thereby contributing to building sustainable digital capacity for the preventive health system.

Specifically, experts from both sides will organize a series of in-depth training programs, update professional knowledge, standardize safety procedures for vaccination, testing and public health care consulting for doctors, nurses, pharmacists and medical staff.

The minutes clearly state that the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City plays the role of a professional advisor, supporting vaccination, testing and health care consulting activities. With the strength of network, team and technology, Long Chau will synchronize the process of preventing and detecting diseases early and remotely, while expanding access to modern health care services for people. The two sides also agreed to build a system of training materials and in-depth textbooks, suitable to practical needs.

Second, in the spirit of long-term cooperation and “putting people at the center of all activities”, Long Chau and the Pasteur Institute will organize a series of charity and community health care programs.

“Activities aim to increase support for patients in testing, screening and health improvement, contributing to reducing the cost burden and facilitating access to quality medical services for disadvantaged families,” the minutes stated.

Through a network of more than 2,400 pharmacies, 200 vaccination centers and 20,000 medical professionals, Long Chau will continuously advise, care for and support people, while spreading health education programs and disease prevention recommendations, contributing to raising awareness about proactive healthy living.

In addition, the system will expand the sharing journey, coordinate with medical facilities for free screening and consultation, and give health gifts to people in remote areas, where it is difficult to access essential medical care services.

Third, the two sides strengthen cooperation in scientific research, expand international connections, aiming for the long-term goal of improving preventive capacity, contributing to bringing world medical progress closer to millions of Vietnamese families.

Accordingly, the two sides co-organize seminars, scientific conferences, and thematic activities; create conditions for officials, experts, and scientists to exchange domestically and internationally. The two units also consider implementing key topics and projects, forming interdisciplinary research groups, focusing on health issues that have a great impact on the community.

Talking about the cooperation, Associate Professor, PhD. Nguyen Vu Trung, Director of the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City, commented that the common goal of both sides is “to act for a healthy Vietnam”. He expected that the signing ceremony would open a series of key activities, maximize the Institute’s potential and experience in preventive medicine, and coordinate with Long Chau to effectively deploy many contents.

Associate Professor Vu Trung directed the specialized departments and units of the Institute to closely coordinate and promote training activities and capacity building for medical staff, scientific research, expertise in preventive medicine, information technology, communications and volunteerism, thereby concretizing the memorandum of understanding.

Meanwhile, Ms. Nguyen Bach Diep, President of FPT Retail and General Director of Long Chau, said that medical care needs to start from prevention, early detection, regular awareness-raising education and medical touch points closest to the people. This spirit is clearly stated in the Law on Disease Prevention: shifting from the mindset of “responsive medical examination and treatment” to “proactive disease prevention”.

Long Chau side commits to extensive, long-term coordination with the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City to spread proactive disease prevention knowledge, bringing screening programs, health examinations, and quality medical services closer to the community. Also according to Ms. Bach Diep, this journey is not only in urban areas but also in remote and difficult localities, thereby aiming at a common goal: narrowing the gap in medical care, equalizing opportunities for all people, for today and tomorrow.

Continuing, Ms. Nguyen Do Quyen, Deputy General Director of FPT Retail and CEO of Long Chau, emphasized that the unit will apply technology to improve operations, based on the spirit of “doing it fast, doing it standardly”, promoting digital transformation. “With professional support from the Pasteur Institute, we continue to promote the role of ‘extended arm’ of the medical industry, contributing to protecting and improving public health,” Ms. Do Quyen added.

The above cooperation is also a way for the two units to respond to the spirit of Resolution 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo and Resolution No. 282/NQ-CP from the Government, hoping to help Vietnamese people easily access scientific advances and quality health care services.
