Three concert evenings in the spring program of the Mariaburg district

On Saturday February 21, accordionist Ivan Smeulders opens the season with Ivan & Fabulous Friends. Smeulders is a permanent fixture and musical director at De Ideale Mannen, Bart Peeters’ backing band. For this concert he invites some top musician friends, including violinist Emile Verstraeten and percussionist Amel Serra Garcia, who are also part of De Ideale Mannen. Pianist Andy Willems is also on stage. A ticket costs 18 euros in advance, the price at the box office is 20 euros.

A month later, on Saturday March 28, Ensemble Astor, Ronny Mosuse and Frank Vaganée join forces for a joint concert. The ensemble and Mosuse perform Dutch songs from the Low Countries, interpreted in an Argentinian style and colored by the saxophone of Frank Vaganée. Tickets cost 16 euros in advance and 19 euros at the box office.

The spring program concludes with the fifth edition of Cultuur in den Hof on Saturday, May 30. Just like in previous years, six residents of Mariaburg will open their garden for an open-air concert. The evening is designed so that visitors can attend two of the six performances, as each artist performs the same concert twice in the same garden. Between the performances, visitors can walk or cycle from one garden to another. Three gardens are located in Ekeren, three in Brasschaat. The first concert series runs from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., the second from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. A ticket costs 10 euros in advance until April 1, after which it costs 12 euros. The price at the cash register is 14 euros.
