Trump’s envoy in Venezuela highlights the “historic moment” after the restart of diplomatic relations

The United States chargé d’affaires in Venezuela, Laura Dogu, has highlighted the “historic moment” that both countries are experiencing after the return of diplomatic representatives from Washington to Caracas, hours after being received in the Venezuelan capital by the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez.

“It is a historic moment for both countries,” Dogu expressed in a video on the social networks of the United States Embassy in Caracas in which it is stated that the objective is to achieve “tangible benefits” for both countries.

Dogu explained that the United States will implement a three-phase plan in Venezuela that begins with stabilizing and restoring security and then begins economic recovery and finally a transition to a “friendly, stable, prosperous and democratic” Venezuela.

The envoy of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, has highlighted that the reopening of airspace and the general license to trade with Venezuelan oil “are key steps to strengthen the economic recovery.”

Dogu arrived in Caracas on Saturday with the rank of chargé d’affaires and this Monday she already met with the president in charge of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, although the meeting was attended by other high officials, such as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, and the president of the Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez.

The Venezuelan Government has appointed former Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia as the new diplomatic representative of Venezuela in the United States.
