Management of Antwerp and Ostend airports announces “staff meetings”.

A few days ago, internal documents emerged showing that restructuring may be underway at the regional airports. According to the French operator Egis, this was a draft note and no decisions had yet been made.

The documents contained diagrams with a possible impact on various functions and on the organization itself. Unauthorized persons had accidentally gained access to the internal documents. Perhaps it was a human error. According to the airport, the papers in question were only intended to prepare for a future management meeting.

After a conversation between unions and management on Wednesday, much remains unclear. It is also difficult to say how far negotiations have progressed between the airport and the Flemish government. These two parties have been arguing for months about, among other things, overdue corona support and a new subsidy scheme. The loss of customers, including airlines such as TUI, is also a headache for the management of the regional airports.

“ACOD recognizes that employers can develop scenarios to prepare for uncertainties,” the union said on Wednesday. “We will carefully monitor the announced staff meetings and expect clarity to be provided about assumptions, timing and staff impact. Staff impact cannot be hidden under the label ‘work note’.”
