Álex Márquez closes the Sepang test as the fastest

The Spanish rider Álex Márquez (Ducati) was the protagonist of the last day of the MotoGP category test held between Tuesday and Thursday at the Sepang circuit (Malaysia) by setting the fastest time of the three days of testing and leading the good day for the Italian factory’s motorcycles.

The last day of testing on the Asian track brought the dominance of the Ducati, which practically took over the time table, with five of the six best times, especially in a morning session where the best laps and times were seen below 1:57, and where the nine-time world champion Marc Márquez (Ducati) went to the ground although without physical consequences. Furthermore, after his absence on the second day due to technical problems, Yamaha was able to ride again.

And the best ‘Desmosedici’ was that of the current runner-up in the world, Álex Márquez who achieved a best lap in the morning of 1:56.402, very close to the record of the Italian Francesco Bagnaia (1:56.337), to leave Malaysia as the fastest, and only disturbed by the emergence in the second afternoon session of Marco Bezzecchi’s Aprilia, which was just over one tenth (1:56.526).

Behind the Italian, the other riders who fell below the 1:57 barrier on this final day were all from Ducati. Fabio di Giannantonio did 1:56.785 to finish just 4 thousandths ahead of Marc Márquez, who was one tenth ahead of his teammate Francesco Bagnaia, who has shown signs of feeling better in the ‘GP26’ than last year.

These joined the Spanish Joan Mir (Honda), ninth, and the Italian Franco Morbidelli (Ducati), sixth, who were the only two to lap in 1:56 on Wednesday’s day. In addition, Spaniard Raúl Fernández placed the satellite team’s Aprilia seventh ahead of Pedro Acosta’s official KTM.

On the other hand, as reported by ‘motogp.com’, the morning training session closed with Sprint drills, in which Álex Márquez’s pace also stood out, with an average of 1:58.027 per lap, much better than Bagnaia and Marc Márquez. The second and last preseason test will be on February 21 and 22 at the Buriram circuit in Thailand, a week after the start of the World Championship.
