There will soon be hot air balloons and paragliding to see the sea in Ho Chi Minh City

Can Gio Spring Festival opens on February 7 and lasts until February 28. The program opens a series of “festivals within a festival”, including spring flower festival, hot air balloon festival, paragliding performance, cuisine of 3 regions…

In particular, the organizers said that for the first time there was a hot air balloon festival during a spring festival to celebrate the Lunar New Year. The program brings 22 large, colorful hot air balloons, helping visitors experience panoramic views of the Can Gio coast, mangrove forests and the new urban area being completed.

Activities are expected to take place within a number of fixed time frames, depending on weather conditions. The organizers said the number of test flights will be limited to ensure safety and regulate passengers.

Along with that, the Turkish-style check-in area is inspired by the Cappadocia region, recreating desert colors, curved domes and colorful hot air balloons, creating a new space for photography and visual experiences for visitors.

Paragliding activities are also the highlight of the program, arranged on special days, including opening (February 7-8), Valentine’s Day (February 14) and February 15. The displays are performed by professional pilots, under suitable weather conditions. Visitors can register for a flight experience with a tour guide if they meet safety requirements. This activity gives visitors more options to see panoramic views of the sea and urban areas from above.

According to the organizers, the 2026 Lunar New Year celebration event opening at Vinhomes Green Paradise urban area marks the beginning of a “new era of development” of the green coastal urban area after 10 months of construction.

During the three weeks of the event, the entire space was decorated in traditional Tet style with a welcome gate system, a large scene of the Binh Ngo mascot and artistic check-in areas.

In particular, the central area is decorated with a 130-year-old Phu Quy apricot tree, 10 m high, and more than 600 apricot and peach trees from the North and South. The wish-fulfilling apricot tree with 2,026 lucky money envelopes is a highlight that attracts people to participate in “picking fortune at the beginning of the year”. Large scenes, miniature art scenes and workshops are arranged alternately, serving the needs of sightseeing and interaction.

Besides entertainment, cultural elements are also emphasized through the culinary space of three regions and specialty stalls. Visitors can participate in folk games such as bamboo jumping, lion and dragon dancing, watch a map maker or directly experience wrapping banh tet. In particular, a high-altitude fireworks show will be performed on the opening day and New Year’s Eve, marking the first Tet season after the project starts in April 2025.

The festival takes place near the center of Can Thanh town, visitors can come by car, motorbike along the Rung Sac route or by canoe or speedboat from Bach Dang wharf. On site, parking, pick-up points and rest areas are available. The organizers recommend that guests follow the daily schedule of activities to arrange a suitable schedule.
