Actress Carmen Machi receives the Jesús Hermida Lifetime Achievement Award from the Television Academy

Carmen Machi has been awarded the Jesús Hermida Lifetime Achievement Awardthe highest recognition of the Academy of Television and Audiovisual Sciences and Arts. This award recognizes Machi’s contribution to the television world throughout his career.

The prize, previously called ‘A Whole Life’has been awarded in previous editions to emblematic figures such as Jesús Hermida, Chicho Ibáñez Serrador, Concha Velasco, José María Íñigo, Laura Valenzuela, Mercedes Milá, Pedro Piqueras and Jordi Hurtado, among others.

Carmen Machi began her professional career in theater with the ‘Taormina Teatro’ company, where she remained for 13 years. Her jump to television came with the series ‘7 lives’ (Telecinco) in 2000, playing Aída García, a character who years later would star in the series ‘Aída’, broadcast for ten seasons and with audiences of up to six million viewers.

In film, Machi has worked with directors such as Pedro Almodóvar, Joaquín Oristrell and Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón, participating in titles such as ‘Hable con ella’ (2002), ‘Los Abrazos Rotos’ (2009), ‘Eight Basque Surnames’ (2014), for which she received the Goya for Best Supporting Actress, or ‘La tribu’ (2018).

Her television career has remained as active as her film career, with notable roles in ‘Arde Madrid’, ‘Vida Perfect’, ‘Criminal’, ‘La Mesías’, ‘Furia’ and ‘Celeste’. In theater he has starred in works such as ‘Darwin’s Turtle’, ‘Trial of a Fox’ and ‘The Macbeths’.

In recent years she has continued her activity with projects such as ‘We Treat Women Too Well’ (2023), ‘Summer in December’ (2023), and the filming of the films ‘Hunting Day’, ‘The Delights of the Garden’ and ‘The Black Widow’ (2024). In 2025 he returns to one of his most iconic characters with ‘Aída y Volver’, directed by Paco León, and shoots ’53 Domingos’, directed by Cesc Gay.

PRIZE DELIVERY ON FEBRUARY 16

The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented at the Iris Awards gala, which will be broadcast exclusively on Movistar Plus+ on February 16 from the Teatro Real in Madrid. Komodo Productions will be in charge, in collaboration with the Television Academy, of producing the awards that recognize the excellence of Spanish audiovisual production each year.

This year, the awards launch a new visual identity and a renewed focus under the motto “You do it”, highlighting the role of audiovisuals as a reflection of social diversity.

During the gala, the winners of the 20 categories of the Iris Awards will also be announced, chosen by secret vote of the academics before a notary. In addition, the Iris Autonomous Awards will be presented for Best Autonomous Program and Best Autonomous Presenter, Best Original Platform Content and the Iris Audience Award.
