In Pistoia new meeting of the ‘Read, feel, live’ series. One year later

The meetings of the ‘Reading, hearing, living’ cycle continue. One year later, the initiative created by the Francis Bacon Foundation and the Vasco Gaiffi APS University which focuses on books, reading, libraries and education, in the spaces of the San Giorgio Library, with the support of the Caript Foundation. The next event – which is part of the calendar of events of Pistoia Italian Capital of Books 2026 – is scheduled for Saturday 7 February at 4.30 pm, in the Terzani Auditorium, with the meeting with Davide Sisto on the theme ‘Virtual Influencer’. The initiative will be moderated by Alessandro Pagnini, president of the Francis Bacon Foundation.

Rethinking a ‘human time’ for reading, enhancing spaces and places for sharing culture, making people understand what ‘deep reading’ means in the light of what cognitive neuroscience teaches, but above all giving a responsible sense to our belonging to a world and a tradition, are among the aims with which last year the Foundation undertook various initiatives including the successful three-day conference on ‘Reading, feeling living’. One year later, as part of the program for the 2025/2026 academic year of the ‘Vasco Gaiffi’ University, some themes are revisited with authors of books chosen for having given an original and important contribution to the debate on education, knowledge and knowledge in our country.

Davide Sisto is a professor at the University of Turin and at the Master “Death Studies & the End of Life” at the University of Padua. He has been dealing with thanatology, digital culture and the posthuman for many years. He is the author of Virtual Influencer. The time of digital lives, Einaudi, Turin 2024. The next appointment is scheduled for Saturday 14 February and is dedicated to the theme “The marketing of ignorance”, with a meeting with Paolo Guenzi. Entrance is free until all available places are filled.
