Milan-Cortina, the opening ceremony in the name of Giorgio Armani

From the white dress of the standard-bearer Vittoria Ceretti, to the parade of models with the Tricolore, passing through the creations worn by Laura Pausini and Cecilia Bartoli: it was under the sign of Giorgio Armani the opening ceremony of the XXV edition of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, broadcast live all over the world. By virtue of his special relationship with sport, the designer, who passed away on 4 September, was personally involved in the planning of the ceremony, contributing to the definition of the concept and ‘designing’ the entrance of the two flags.

Armani contributed to the ceremony divided into various phases, the first of which was the delivery of the banner to the guard of honour. Sixty models, dressed in elegant monochromatic Giorgio Armani trouser suits in the colors of the national flag, divided into three groups, paraded ahead of the standard-bearer, Vittoria Ceretti, testimonial of the new Giorgio Armani spring/summer 2026 campaign. For the occasion, the model wore a long white Giorgio Armani Privé custom-made dress.

EA7 Emporio Armani, partner of the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation and official outfitter of the Italia Team and Eyewear Partner of the Milano Cortina Foundation, also signed the uniforms worn by the Italian delegation which marched last, as per the tradition of the host nation, closing the procession of the participating countries. The Italia Team athletes wore an outfit consisting of trousers and bomber jacket in water-repellent gray mélange wool twill with an oversize cut, with zip and front pockets, EA7 and Coni logos, tricolor details and the writing ‘Italia’ on the back. The look is completed with hats, headbands and technical black mountain shoes.

The same look will be worn by the athletes on the podium for the awards ceremony but with the large jacket in white and with the all-over EA7 Italia Team logo: a choice which, recalling the snow, underlines the value of fair play, the pure essence of sport which embraces loyalty, mutual respect and fairness. As always, the first verse of the Mameli anthem is shown inside all the outerwear, to recall a sense of pride and belonging. The last phase was marked by the parade of the athletes Rebecca Andrade, Eliud Kipchoge, Cindy Ngamba, Pita Taufatofua, Filippo Grandi, Nicolò Govoni, Maryam Bukar Hassan and Tadatoshi Akiba who, in Giorgio Armani dresses from the autumn winter 2025/2026 collection, carried the Olympic flag up to the stage of honor

Furthermore, numerous artists performed during the evening wearing Giorgio Armani clothes: the singer Laura Pausini, with a precious black Giorgio Armani Privé dress, the pianist Lang Lang, very elegant in a Giorgio Armani suit, the actor Pierfrancesco Favino in a suit with a Giorgio Armani coat, the opera singer Cecilia Bartoli in a Giorgio Armani dress and the musician Giovanni Andrea Zanon in a total Emporio Armani look. It is not the first time that the designer, a great sports fan, has ‘signed’ Olympic ceremonies. EA7, which was born in 2004 as a sports line by Emporio Armani, dressed athletes at the London 2012, Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, Paris 2024 Olympic Games and at the Sochi 2014, Pyeongchang 2018 and Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

The garments of the Italian team for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games are available in Emporio Armani stores, in multi-brand stores, online, and at the Milano Cortina 2026 megastore in Piazza Duomo, Milan.
