Sabine Winter wins top 16 tournament in table tennis

The German national table tennis player Sabine Winter has won the European Top 16 tournament for the first time in her career. In the final in Montreux, Switzerland, the 33-year-old from TSV Dachau defeated Romanian Bernadette Szöcs in 3-0 sets. It was 11:4, 11:4 and 11:4 after less than half an hour of play.

Winter made headlines last year because, after 14 years as a professional, she once again changed her racket surface and style of play and then became the best player in Europe. In Montreux, the world number 17 beat. including her German national team colleague and defending champion Ying Han in the semifinals in 3-0 sets.
