Barça calls its elections for the presidency on March 15

The voting to elect the next president of FC Barcelona will be held on Sunday, March 15, as announced by the Barça club, which published the official call for the electoral process this Monday.

The official announcement of the call sets in motion the electoral calendar, which will culminate with the voting on March 15. As reported by the Catalan entity, for this electoral event there will be no vote by mail, a procedure that was launched “exceptionally” in the 2021 elections due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Barça Board of Directors will meet this Monday starting at 10:00 am in an ordinary session to formalize the resignation of the directors who stand for election, including the current president, Joan Laporta, who has already announced his intentions to repeat his position.

Those on March 15 will be the fifteenth elections for the presidency of FC Barcelona since 1953, when the first elections were held – only male members voted – and the ninth with universal suffrage in the history of the club.

Until February 12, the public draw will be held for the election of the members of the Board and the Electoral Table, and on February 13 or 14 there will be the act of constitution of the Board and the Electoral Table.

Starting on February 15, support ballots can be requested, and between February 15 and 19, the electoral roll will be presented. Between February 20 and 22, census claims will be resolved and the final census will be approved.

The presentation of candidacy proposals will take place between February 23 and March 2, and between March 3 and 5 the ballots will be counted and the candidates who have the number of proposals from members of no less than 50% of the delegates that make up the Assembly will be announced. The electoral campaign will take place between March 6 and 13, with a day of reflection on the eve of the voting.

The club will set up five voting points in the four Catalan regions – Barcelona, Girona, Lleida and Tarragona – and another in the Principality of Andorra. The electoral roll will be universal and, therefore, members will be able to vote in any of these districts, regardless of their place of residence.
