Sources: IDF special forces kidnapped one of the terrorist leaders in southern Lebanon

Lebanese media reported that on the night of February 9, Israeli special forces infiltrated the Arqub area, south of the village of Al-Khabariyah in southern Lebanon (about 4 km from the Israeli border) and kidnapped one of the leaders of the terrorist organization Al-Jamaa al-Islamiya, known as Atoui Atoui.

The Lebanon24 publication refers to reports from local sources and publications on social networks.

The IDF confirmed the capture of one of the leaders of the Al-Jamaah al-Islamiya terrorists in Lebanon.

The Sunni group Al-Jamaa al-Islamiya (Islamic Group) is affiliated with the terrorist organization Hamas in Lebanon. In fact, it is the Lebanese branch of the Muslim Brotherhood.

In April 2025, as a result of an IDF UAV strike in Lebanon, Sheikh Hussein Atoui, the leader of the military wing of Al-Jamaa Al-Islamiya, was killed. Apparently, Atui Atui is a relative (possibly the son) of the liquidated leader.

Since the start of the war on October 7, 2023, Al-Fajr militants, the military wing of Al-Jamaa Al-Islamiya, have repeatedly shelled Israeli territory. Before that, they fought against Israel during the Second Lebanon War in the summer of 2006.
