“We have reliable information that during her arrest she was beaten with wooden sticks and batons, pulled by her hair, tearing out part of her cover, and struck on the genitals and pelvic area. Due to the pain, she could not sit or move,” the statement says.

Mohamadi herself went on a hunger strike in early February, protesting against the illegal arrest, unacceptable conditions of detention and denial of visits from relatives and lawyers. After a few days it was stopped.

After her arrest in November 2021, the 53-year-old human rights activist began serving several sentences totaling 13 years and 9 months. In December 2024, she was temporarily released from prison for medical reasons for three weeks, but under pressure from Western countries she remained free for almost a year.

She was arrested on December 12, 2025 in Mashhad along with other activists after a ceremony in memory of human rights activist Khosrow Alikordi. She was sentenced to another six years in prison on charges of “information collection and conspiracy” and a year and a half “for propaganda.”
