“If (the investment) arrives, the Mexican government has to analyze that investment, it has to see that it complies with everything it has to comply with and if it is convenient,” he indicated after participating in the meeting of the National Council of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE).

He pointed out that the only thing the Mexican automotive industry seeks is fair and loyal competition.

Currently, the United States government applies tariffs under section 232 of the Trade Act of 1962 to vehicles and auto parts, although it also depends on the regional content that is integrated into each unit.

There will be no more closures

The closure of Compas operations occurs after the end of Nissan operations at the Civac plant in Morelos, due to the restructuring of the Japanese company.

AMIA itself has acknowledged on different occasions that no more closures of automotive factories are anticipated in the country, but changes in production lines are anticipated due to the reconfiguration of the industry.
