Tourists flock to Can Gio to check-in at the hot air balloon festival to welcome Valentine

On the morning of February 14, Minh Quan and Tram Anh (22 years old), were present at the Green Paradise Tet Fest (Tet in Green Paradise), participating in a workshop on making lucky money envelopes. The organizers prepared materials with red paper, ribbons and carp motifs. Quan wrote the word “An” with a calligraphy pen, Tram Anh pasted silk flowers on the lucky money envelope and called it the first “handmade” Valentine’s gift to each other.

“Last year we just had dinner and took a few photos. This year we wanted to be different, to enjoy spring and have something to remember,” Quan said.

As for Diep Chi and Le Trung (Dong Nai), they both chose Can Gio as a tourist destination on the day before Tet, combining to celebrate their three-year anniversary of knowing each other. Chi said the festival space has many highlights, combining traditional and modern elements. For example, right next to the hot air balloons are specialties from three regions and an area for asking for letters from ancestors.

“The first time I experienced flying a hot air balloon, watching the sea and mountain scenery from above was very interesting. This was my most memorable holiday,” Chi said.

In another corner, Tran Duc Hai and his wife (32 years old, Hiep Binh Chanh ward) and their three-year-old daughter made lucky money envelopes. The child was given a set of apricot flowers and passionately glued each petal. “For many years, I’ve been busy with work, I’m still young, this is the first time the three of us went out together before Tet,” Mr. Hai said.

He said that in the past, husband and wife often welcomed Valentine’s Day in a simple way like dinner after work. Since having children, they want this occasion to be associated with family activities. “The atmosphere here reminds me of the old Tet, with the sound of lion drums and apricot trees gradually blooming. The festival’s design is very special, combining folk features and modern elements, so it is suitable for both large families or young people who want to walk alone,” he said.

Standing in front of a 150-year-old apricot tree, Dinh Khoi (21 years old, Can Gio commune) and his girlfriend My Quyen (20 years old, Xom Cui ward, Ho Chi Minh City) continuously took pictures, celebrating their second year together celebrating Valentine’s Day. Khoi said the festival has brought new vitality to Can Gio for the past two weeks. His friends and family have come to visit and experience the games since the first week of opening, but only now has he completed his work and attended with his girlfriend. Besides the vibrant atmosphere, what impressed him was the appearance of Vinhomes Green Paradise Can Gio urban area.

“As a Can Gio resident, I see the urban area changing every day. With the ‘lightning’ construction speed, I believe that super projects will soon be formed, boosting the local economy,” Khoi said.

Mai Ly (39 years old, Tan My ward, Ho Chi Minh City), also quite familiar with Can Gio, chose the Green Paradise Tet Fest for her family’s spring vacation, combined with learning about the Vinhomes Green Paradise project.

“I was attracted by a festival close to the sea, with colorful peach and apricot gardens. Looking from afar, I thought it was a real ‘paradise’,” Ly said.

Ly said that 6 months ago she had the opportunity to visit, but now she came back and was extremely surprised because of the changes in the project. Previously, she was a resident of Vinhomes Grand Park (Long Binh ward, Ho Chi Minh City), highly appreciating the project for its multi-utilities and ideal for families to settle down. She also plans to invest in the Can Gio project because of its scarcity, beautiful location and convenient connection to Ho Chi Minh City in the future when the infrastructure is complete.

Previously, the event opened on February 7, welcoming more than 10,000 people. The series of “festivals within a festival” will last until February 28 at Vinhomes Green Paradise Can Gio urban area, going through 4 themes: Southern, Central, Northern Tet and Spring Travel – January Festival.

Since opening, the program has attracted tourists from many provinces and cities through new activities such as hot air balloon flying, paragliding viewing, flower street with 600 peach and apricot trees, and three-region specialty stalls.

During the festival, 4 workshops are held one after another, imbued with each region’s identity. Each workshop lasts from 9 to 6 p.m. Visitors can make lucky money envelopes, paint plant pots, and make rings to hang on doors. Each finished product is stamped “Stamp Rally” – part of the journey of collecting wood to redeem as gifts.

Besides the experience area, more than 40 culinary stalls from three regions display Tra Cuon tet cakes, Nha Trang grilled spring rolls, banh it gai leaves, green bean sweet soup, along with souvenirs and Tet gifts. The festival lasts from morning to night, many couples choose to stay until evening to watch the neighborhood light up and take photos under the yellow apricot tree.

According to a representative of the organizing committee, the festival is designed so that young people and young families have more choices during Tet – Valentine’s Day.
