An Israeli was arrested after being suspected of running a drug trafficking network

Copenhagen’s tourist police announced this morning the arrest of an Israeli, S., on suspicion of running a drug trafficking network on the island. S. is a well-known figure among the Israeli community on the island and runs a local restaurant.

According to information that reached Mako, the local police followed the conduct of the Israeli for a period of time after intelligence information about him reached the local authorities. The Thai police launched an operation to incriminate S., and an undercover police officer approached him in Hebrew in order to purchase ketamine. During the meeting between them, undercover policemen ambushed the place and arrested him.

The authorities located an unusual amount of drugs

The police raided his house and the restaurant he owns and found 6 kg of ketamine and cocaine, hundreds of ecstasy pills and other illegal substances. The Thai police are now investigating whether the Israeli acted alone and whether there are other people involved in this case. According to an investigation, the value of the seized drugs is approximately 50 million baht, that is 5.5 million shekels.

“The Thais are not taking it easy on the issue and they are working to eradicate the drug phenomenon, especially in Copenhagen and among the Israelis,” a source in the island tells Mako. “They were surprised by the large amount they found, in my opinion they themselves did not expect such an amount. Israelis who come to Thailand should know that the locals here are not suckers and in the end they will be caught. They do not do what is forbidden and especially when they see so many arrests. Sh is one of the most well-known people in the community here, and he got into trouble in a significant way.”
