Years after his retirement from politics, Hariri: The Future Movement will run in the Lebanese elections

Beirut – Reuters Former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri, one of the country’s most famous politicians, indicated on Saturday that the Future Movement, which he founded, will run in the upcoming elections, four years after he stepped down from politics. In a speech on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the assassination of his father, Rafik Hariri, who was also prime minister, he told his supporters in Beirut that others “will hear our voices… and they will count our votes when the elections are held.” It is not clear whether Hariri intends to run for office himself, but his popularity in Lebanon remains strong. Many gathered in Martyrs’ Square in Beirut, waving Future Movement flags and chanting Hariri’s name. Hariri told his supporters, “You are not a few, by God.”
