No winner in Italian top match: Romelu Lukaku sees from the bench how Napoli overcomes the deficit twice against AS Roma

The home fans shouted for a penalty early in the match, but the referee ruled that Scott McTominay went down far too easily in the box. Two minutes later it was the prize on the other side. Donyell Malen once again proved that he is a good winter transfer and gave the visitors the lead with his fourth goal as a Roman employee.

In the first half the ball belonged to Napoli, but Antonio Conte’s team found it difficult to create opportunities. Five minutes before half-time it finally happened. Leonardo Spinazzola scored from outside the box and saw his shot hit the goal via the heel of a Roma player: 1-1.

In the second half it was Roma who dictated the law. After 70 minutes it was rewarded after Wesley was wrongly stopped in the box. The penalty was right for Malen, who scored his second of the evening past Napoli goalie Milinkovic-Savic.

Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku was warming up, but Antonio Conte waited to bring on the Red Devil. And he was not going to do that again, because in minute 82 Napoli leveled again. After intercepting a long ball from Roma, the home team played well. Giovane served Alisson Santos, who finished well.

The substitutes thus proved their worth, and Conte was right, who had kept Lukaku on the bench until then against his ex-club. Big Rom was ready to attack just before the equalizer.

After the equalizer, Napoli went looking for the winning goal with the support of the home crowd, but it never came. An entertaining game ends in a draw. Napoli remains third with 50 points due to the points division, while Roma follows with three points less in fourth place.
