An ugly incident: a Jewish woman with an Israeli flag was expelled from a museum

Three elderly tourists from Israel arrived at the Reyna museum in Madrid with a Star of David and Israeli flags. In response, they received curses and shouts from visitors to the place – and were removed by armed security guards.

Three elderly women from Israel, including the daughter of Holocaust survivors, were expelled from the “Reina” museum in Madrid on Saturday – this after visitors verbally attacked them and called them “genocide”. According to a report on the website “Spanish Okdiario”, the women are tourists from Israel and were accompanied by a local guide – who documented the event. The women had Israeli flags and the Star of David in their possession – which led to harassment from the visitors and their removal.

In the recording, one of the armed security guards who approached the women can be heard asking them to leave, while one of them (probably the local guide) protests that he cannot expel them. The security man returned and asked the women to accompany him and leave, while he replied: “We are here calmly so please don’t bother us because we are not doing anything illegal.” The security guard replied: “There is one side that is harassing, I respect you – respect me and that’s it. I don’t need any excuse.”

Also according to the report, the museum is under the authority of the Spanish Ministry of Culture, and was in the past a central focus for pro-Palestinian demonstrations. One of the women was described as an elderly woman with Hungarian roots, the daughter of parents persecuted by the Nazis.
