The Iranian Foreign Minister and the head of the EMEA met in Geneva

The meeting, details of which have not yet been released, comes a day before US-Iran talks in Geneva to resolve the dispute over the nuclear program and prevent possible war.

Abbas Araghchi wrote on the social network that threats will not scare Iran.

“I am in Geneva with real ideas to reach a fair and equal agreement. Submitting to threats is not discussed,” Araghchi insisted.

Ahead of the Geneva talks, today, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps conducted military exercises in the Strait of Hormuz, where the US has built up large forces and is threatening Iran with military action if Tehran does not agree to a deal.

According to the Iranian Tasnim news agency, the purpose of the military exercise called “Smart Control of the Strait of Hormuz” is to test the readiness of the army against “possible security and military threats”.

The US and Israel say Iran is seeking nuclear weapons, while Tehran insists it is enriching uranium for peaceful purposes. Iran and the US resumed negotiations earlier this month. The US has already sent a second aircraft carrier to the region, which US officials say is a sign that Washington is preparing for prolonged military action if the talks fail.
