Athletico striker is the player who suffers the most penalties in Brazilian football

He currently shares eighth place in the rankings with Gorgonio Ibarrola, a Paraguayan who played for the club from 1943 to 1945.

Viveros loses his post as penalty taker

Despite the good numbers, Kevin Viveros is no longer Athletico’s penalty taker. The decision was made by coach Odair Hellmann after the Colombian missed two penalties in the 5-0 defeat of Foz do Iguaçu.

It can be said that El Tren was going through a turbulent time. He was released by the club to travel to Colombia and resolve family problems, which left him out of the classic against Coritiba, in the State Championship.

After returning, Viveros wasted two clear chances in the victory over Internacional, in the Brasileirão debut, and even apologized to the fans on social media. This fear had been bothering the athlete until the goal against Santos.

“Viveros already deserved the goal, he played a great game. The decision not to take the penalty was mine because the player goes through moments and we are here as commanders and we need to respect these moments. Everything went well and if Julimar had lost, the responsibility would have been mine”, explained Odair.

With Viveros, Athletico’s main squad is now preparing to face Corinthians. The duel will take place next Thursday (19), at 7:30 pm, at Arena da Baixada, in Curitiba, and will be attended exclusively by women, children and the elderly due to Rubro-Negro’s conviction at the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD).
