The Reina Sofía will investigate the expulsion of 3 women with Israeli flags after a video was spread on social networks

The video shared by the organization Action and Communication on the Middle East (ACOM) shows how a security guard urges three women with Israeli flags to leave or hide their symbols, arguing that “there is a public that is bothering them.”

This was announced in a statement by the art gallery, which “unequivocally” states its commitment to equality, religious freedom and zero tolerance against any type of violence or discrimination related to anti-Semitism. “We will not stop until we clarify the events that unfortunately occurred,” says the Reina Sofía Museum.

The art gallery maintains that the Museum’s staff is “highly” qualified in matters of fundamental rights, conflict management and prevention of any type of discrimination. The entity highlights the importance that, for the institution and its Collection, especially in the avant-garde, have had “both the artists and the Jewish patrons and patrons, without whose selfless collaboration the Museum could not be conceived” as it is known today.

Among its rules, the art gallery prohibits the access of flags with sticks, as well as the entry of selfie sticks, to avoid possible attacks on the works. However, Reina Sofía sources tell Europa Press that the three women were carrying flags without a stick.

“My flag is not a provocation. My flag represents thousands of years of history of the Jewish people. My flag represents the State of Israel,” he stated in a publication on X.
