US-Iran talks begin in Geneva

The second round of US-Iranian nuclear negotiations began in Geneva. The Iranian delegation is headed by Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, the American delegation is led by US Presidential Special Envoy Steven Witkoff and Donald Trump’s adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Like the previous round held in Oman, negotiations are being conducted through an intermediary, played by Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi. A meeting between Iranian and Omani colleagues took place the day before.

US President Donald Trump said he would indirectly participate in the negotiations. At the same time, he threatened Iran with a strike on nuclear facilities. I think the Iranians don’t want to face the consequences of abandoning the agreement. This is either an agreement or our B-2 bombers,” the American leader said.

Let us note that Iran, while declaring its readiness to compromise on issues related to nuclear development, categorically refuses to discuss its missile program, as well as the assistance provided by the ayatollah regime to its regional satellites.

“The key for the negotiations to be effective is the US willingness to lift sanctions and not put forward unrealistic conditions,” a senior Iranian source told Reuters.
