Mattarella: "The institutions respect the Superior Council of the Judiciary"

For the first time in 11 years thePresident of the Republic Sergio Mattarellachaired an ordinary meeting ofSuperior Council of the Judiciaryand he did so “driven by the desire to underline thevalue of the constitutionally important role of the CSMabove all by the need to reiterate therespect that must be nurtured and demonstratedon the part ofother institutionstowards this”.

Il Csmcontinued the Head of State, “is not exempt, in its functioning, fromdefects, gaps, errorsand against which they are, obviously, not precludedcriticisms. As, indeed, there are defects, gaps, errors and possible criticisms regarding theactivity di other institutions of the Republicwhether they are part of thelegislative powerof thatexecutiveof thatjudicial“.

But, Mattarella said again, “In this place, which must remainstrictly institutional ed foreign to political issues and controversiesrather than for the functions of president of this council, aspresident of the RepublicI feel the need to firmly renew the exhortation tomutual respectat any time, under any circumstances, ininterest of the Republic“.
